Welcome
Our community garden is a place where people who enjoy gardening come together to work the soil and share their knowledge and experience with other gardeners. Our gardeners include UC Irvine students, faculty, staff, and members from the surrounding community. Originally established in 1985, the garden has been located near three different UCI student housing complexes, most recently Arroyo Vista Housing. In June 2008 the garden was relocated to a new site next to Palo Verde Graduate Student Housing. The club name was changed to Anthill Village Community Garden, abbreviated as AVCG.
The Garden Site
The current garden site is located along Anteater Drive between Palo Verde Road and Anteater Dr. There are 99 garden plots, each measuring 12 feet by 16 feet. There are eleven rows of gardens with four-foot pathways between the rows and a 24-foot center walkway. Click here for an approximate layout of the garden.

Costs and Membership
Annual fees are due February 28 and are $75 per plot for faculty, staff, and community members; current UCI students pay $45 per year. Members are responsible for maintaining their plots according to the AVCG Constitution & Bylaws and Membership Agreement -2024-25.
How to Join
Currently, there is a very long waiting list: approximately three years for UCI-affiliates (current students, faculty and staff) and seven years for community members. Note: Effective 5/11/22 the waiting list has been closed to all who are not current UCI-affiliates due to the very long wait for a plot.
If you are a current UCI-affiliate and interested in being added to the waiting list, please complete the Waitlist Sign-Up form.
When space is available you will be asked to read the Membership Agreement -2024-25 and meet an officer at the garden for plot assignment. Primary members will be given an AVCG account and will fill out their information on this website, then sign-off on the Member Agreement and Liability Waiver online. You can see the information that will be requested and read the Liability Waiver at this link. Co-gardeners, called Secondary members, will be given an account and will sign-off using a survey tool after they login to their ClubExpress account at AVCG.org.
